Dalegip wins 2015 Trade and Investment Award
Maine International Trade Center (MITC) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 International Trade and Investment Awards. The awards will be officially presented during Maine International Trade Day on May 21, at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine.
Foreign Direct Investor of the Year – Dalegip America, Inc.
The Foreign Direct Investor of the Year Award is presented annually to recognize foreign-owned companies that have made a strategic decision to invest in Maine by either opening a plant or enhancing their existing operations here. Dalegip America, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of industrial pigment products for the paper industry located in Mexico. In 2013, the company signed a contract with GAC Chemical Corporation to build a new chemical reactor plant at the Searsport facility creating new jobs based on demand. This contract represents Maine’s first investment from Mexico.
“Dalegip America is very honored to receive the Foreign Direct Investor of the Year award from the Maine International Trade Center. Our parent company in Mexico, GIPSA, is the leading supplier of specialty coating chemicals for the paper industry in Mexico. We chose to invest in Searsport, Maine because of the strong paper industry market for our products plus the fact that we found a good business partner with GAC Chemical. By coming to Maine, we have made a big commitment to the State of Maine and the paper industry. We hope we can have the opportunity to supply the Maine paper mills with our products that are made in Searsport and also expand our manufacturing into other US markets like architectural coatings. Dalegip America would like to thank Governor LePage, DECD Commissioner George Gervais, Senior Economic Advisor John Butera, Janine Cary and her staff at MITC, and GAC Chemical for all their support.”
Manuel Rivadeneyra Díaz, President, Dalegip America, Inc.
